SUMMARY:All-Faiths Prayers for Liberty
DESCRIPTION:Dear Massachusetts Residents of All Faiths: \nYou are invited  to Prayers For Liberty  this Labor Day\, Monday September 1\, 2025. Your physical presence is essential. Your task is to invite your neighbor. Our democracy depends on our common\, public witness. Join us in person on Monday September 1\, 2025. Register for #PrayersForLiberty here. \nTo join any portion of the march and prayers on September 1st\, please register here. \nIf you have questions or would like more information\, our leadership team will host question and response sessions for clergy and other religious leaders over zoom on Thursday\, August 14th\, from 6:00-6:45 p.m. and on Tuesday\, August 19th from 8:30-9:15 a.m. \nA printable flyer and handout to share with friends\, family\, and congregations is available here. \nJoin us on September 1st in our call to religious leaders around the country\, and all our fellow Americans: calling for our President to obey the law and to respect the decisions of our courts and the rights of all American residents. \nWe stand up for deeply American values – due process of law\, constitutional governance\, democracy\, the American vision  of e pluribus unum\, and the aspiration of liberty and justice for all. Our faiths compel us. \nOn Friday\, May 30th\, hundreds of us marched from Lexington to Boston\, reversing Paul Revere’s ride for liberty 250 years ago to sound the alarm for democracy\, as the actions of our current presidential administration regularly violate our shared sacred values and our constitutional rights. We stopped in Lexington\, Arlington\, Cambridge\, and Boston to pray to God for the merciful and just rule of law from our federal administration\, as well as the protection and preservation of our sacred values and democratic principles. We also brought a letter signed by over 300 Massachusetts clergy\, addressed to members of our Congressional Delegation. \nThis Labor Day – Monday\, September 1st\, 9:00-5:00 – to sound the alarm for American democracy and to demand a more just and humane democracy that honors our shared sacred values. This time\, not just clergy\, but ALL people of any faith\, are invited to march and pray together! \nStand together with us please. Register here. Invite a neighbor. Tell your community. \nIn Faith\, Hope\, and Power\, \nThe Prayers For Liberty Organizing Team \nFrequently Asked Questions (FAQ) \nWhat does the schedule look like on Monday\, September 1st? \n9:00 a.m. Hancock Church – parking\, gathering\, greeting \n9:15 a.m. Opening prayer on Lexington Battle Green \n9:45 a.m. Walk from Lexington to Arlington (~5.3 miles) \n12:00 p.m. Prayer in Arlington Center – The lawn at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Arlington \n12:30  Walk to Cambridge Commons (~3.5 Miles) \n2:30 Prayer in Cambridge Center – Cambridge Commons \n3:00 Walk to Boston Commons – 3.1 to 3.2 miles \n5:00 Boston Prayer and Rally at the Common – Embrace Statue or Common Bandstand \nWho can participate in the march? For what parts? \nPeople of all faiths are invited to participate in any segment. We will walk relatively quickly between stops\, in order to make it to each of our prayer gatherings on time. (See schedule above.) For our friends who are disabled\, tired\, busy\, etc.\, we welcome participation at any one of the prayer stops in Lexington\, Arlington\, Cambridge\, and especially at our conclusion in Boston. \nCan I use my clothing\, signage\, and speech to protest other concerns  at this event? \nWhile we respect the conscience\, speech\, and liberty of all\, at this event we are focused on the preservation of our shared sacred values and democratic\, constitutional governance. In our prayers and signage\, we ask that participants not mention any other issues\, however important they are to one’s conscience and community. Our power is in a shared\, consistent message of #PrayersForLiberty \nWhat should I bring? What should I wear? \nClergy are encouraged to wear any clothing identifying their tradition and/or role. We will have bathroom stops in Arlington and Cambridge. We recommend all participants bring a refillable water bottle\, some snacks in your pocket\, sunscreen and hat\, and comfortable walking shoes!

SUMMARY:Accompaniment at ICE HQ - Defend Blanca
DESCRIPTION:Sign up: bit.ly/BlancaUpdates \nThe community showed up for Blanca in Burlington in August. Now\, one month later\,Blanca is being ordered to return to Burlington ICE headquarters where again she faces the risk of being detained on the spot or being given a 2-week notice to self deport. \nHer check-in comes right in the middle of another surge where masked and violent ICE agents flood our state to carry out mass arrests in heightened numbers. Blanca’s case is one of thousands of immigrants in Massachusetts alone who have been kidnapped by ICE or are at risk of being detained in just the last few months. Another kidnapping trap\, ICE check-ins now carry increased risk of being detained on the spot. These federal actions do not make our streets safer\, but rather terrorize us all. We need resources for what actually makes us all safe – housing\, education\, healthcare and good jobs \nBlanca’s situation is especially acute because she is a survivor of childhood polio living with physical disabilities and mobility issues. Countless detainees describe being denied the medicines and medical care they rely on daily while in detention. Her potential detention or deportation would not only mean being ripped from family and community but probable physical suffering or even death without medical treatment. \nCan’t mobilize in person? SUMMARY:Standout at Burlington ICE Office - Justice For All Thursdays
DESCRIPTION:Greater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) invites you to stand in solidarity with immigrants and resistance to ICE and their cruel and lawless detention of our neighbors Thursdays from 11am-1pm\, starting September 4. Regardless of any other political views\, you are welcome to join us and demand Justice 4 All so long as you do so non-violently. \nOur friends at Bearing Witness have been hosting gatherings at this location for many weeks. We are an unaffiliated group\, but very much aligned with their values and mission. Our goal is to add to the total number of hours that citizens stand in non-violent opposition to the deplorable detainment conditions at this location. If you have been to Bearing Witness on Wednesdays\, we would love to have you at Justice 4 All Thursdays. \nSchedule (Starting Thursday\, September 4 – more dates to follow) \n11:00-11:30 Welcome; music; announcements\n11:30-12:30 Stand with signs along District Ave\n12:30-1:00 Optional short march down to Mall Rd. \nWhat happens at this ICE office? \nICE personnel depart from District Ave. in unmarked vans with tinted windows on missions to abduct immigrants across New England. Immigrants may also show up at the office for appointments. The facility on District Ave was never intended to be a detention center\, yet immigration lawyers and media interviews reveal that people are now being housed here in conditions that have been called “abysmal” and “unsanitary.” \nWhat to expect at Justice 4 All? \nWe are committed to nonviolence\, and we stand peacefully with signs outside the facility. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \nSigns \nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \nParking and other tips \nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). For those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. Before arriving\, please consider your own self-preservation (citizenship status) and self-care (sunscreen\, hydration\, etc.).
